Township Council
The present Township Council was elected for a four-year term ending in November, 2026. Council is Blandford-Blenheim’s decision-making body and is comprised of an elected Mayor and 4 Councillors. The Mayor, also referred to as Head of Council, and all Councillors are elected Township-wide.
The elected Council represents the public and considers the well-being and interests of Blandford-Blenheim on a range of matters such as roads, fire protection, parks, policing, and recreation facilities.
Council develops and determines which services the municipality provides and carries out the duties of Council under the Municipal Act and other provincial legislation.

Council Meetings
Regular meetings of Council are held the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 4:00pm in Council Chambers at the Township Office, located at 47 Wilmot Street South, Drumbo Ontario. Note that during COVID Council Meetings will be held at the Princeton Centennial Hall, located at 35 Main Street South, Princeton Ontario. Occasionally, special meetings of Council may be called. Notice of special meetings will be posted on the Township website. In the months of July and August, Council meets once a month at a time decided by Council.

| Correspondence to Council can be sent to the Township Office, 47 Wilmot Street South, Drumbo Ontario N0J 1G0, or e-mailed to generalmail@blandfordblenheim.ca. If you have a concern or need a decision of Council on a particular matter, you have the right to appear as a delegation at a meeting with Councillors to discuss your concerns. If you have a concern about something happening in the Township, contact Township Staff to discuss the issue before registering as a delegation. Some concerns can be addressed by staff without having to go to Council for a decision. If your issue cannot be resolved by staff, staff can then advise you of the next steps to address your concerns, which may include appearing before Council. Anyone who wishes to make a presentation to Council is required to make an appointment by contacting the Clerk who will advise of the best date and time to make a presentation. If there are multiple delegates wishing to address an issue, the Clerk may encourage them to select one spokesperson to present their views within the allotted time frame. Any documentation to be presented should be delivered to the Township office one week prior to the meeting for inclusion in the distributed Council package. Please note that correspondence intended for Council is generally received as public information which is subject to the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act [link to page]. Any person submitting correspondence shall advise the Clerk of any confidential items and the general nature of the confidentiality. Delegations are permitted to speak for 10 minutes, but may extend their speaking time with the permission of Council. As a delegation, you should not speak disrespectfully of any person, use offensive words, speak on any subject other than the subject for which you have received approval, disobey any decision of the Mayor, or enter into cross debate with other delegations, staff, or Members of Council. |
| Disclosure of Pecuniary Interest |

All members of Council, local boards and committees have an obligation to act honestly and responsibly when making decisions or giving advice on Council, board or committee matters. This obligation includes the disclosure of pecuniary interest. A pecuniary interest refers to a situation where a member has a direct or indirect conflict related to a matter under consideration. A full explanation of direct and indirect pecuniary interests can be found in the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act. The onus is on the member to determine whether they are affected by the pecuniary interest provisions. All members must submit their disclosures of pecuniary interest in writing to the Clerk immediately following the meeting during which they verbally disclose a pecuniary interest using the Disclosure of Pecuniary Interest Form. The next Municipal Election is happening in October 2018. This information is with respect to the most recent election in October 2014.
