Neighbours helping Neighbours . . . . Volunteer Today
In an effort to save tax dollars, the Township Fire Department has adopted a series of guidelines to curb the growing problem of unnecessary fire calls.
The Township requires all burns to be called into the Township Office. This helps us to make sure that fires are being performed in a safe way, as well as making sure that firefighters are only sent out to real fires - this saves money and makes sure that when a real fire happens, people and vehicles are available. Failure to call in a burn could mean that you'll be faced with the cost of sending firefighters out to your property.
- dry seasoned wood, commercially produced charcoal or briquettes shall be used;
- must be a non-combustible container or pit no larger than 2' x 2' with flames not exceeding 2' in height;
- must have an extinguisher or water close by for use if needed;
- fire must be attended, controlled, and supervised at all times and shall be completely extinguished before the site is vacated; &
- fires may be prohibited during extreme weather conditions, monitor our website for updates.
